Is Coconut Oil Good For Your Skin?

Coconut Oil is the latest rage in skin care and hair care products. It’s even been rediscovered as a healthy oil for cooking (though once thought otherwise). Like many of nature’s best-kept secrets, it’s not new to everyone. Polynesians have used coconut oil for generations to protect and nourish the skin. Here are some healthful benefits that Coconut Oil can bring.

Moisturizing

We all want the fountain of youth. Coconut Oil fights the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Not only that it does it naturally without the chemicals found in other skin care ingredients. It soaks in easily and doesn’t leave a heavy film on the skin like other products often do. Your skin feels soft and moisturized rather than oily.

Anti-Aging

It is similar to the natural oils in your skin so it soaks in easy while providing high levels of anti-oxidants which go to work to fight the aging effects of the sun and the environment. Coconut Oil is also very high in Lauric Acid which is a natural anti-microbial in the body.

Facial Care

Coconut OilWhether or not to use it on your face depends on your preferences and skin type. You can add it to your normal skincare routine. A little bit goes a long way. Fortunately more and more facial care products are adding coconut oil to their products because it is a key Skincare Ingredient.

Take a look at your normal lotions and see if they contain coconut oil. Perhaps they have a version of your favorite lotions that are similar to what you use now. You can even buy it in raw form and try adding a little bit to your lotion as you put it on or put it on directly.

  1. In Kerala, South India, the entire cooking, hair oil needs are taken care of with coconut oil. But many doctors and health experts seem to think that the high cholesterol in people there owes to coconut oil. C. oil is fairly common in India but I have my doubts here as the oil cannot replace the sunscreen when it comes to protecting the sun. Nevertheless, the oil is quite famous here. Glad to know that the West is catching up.

    Thanks for this post.

    Joy always,

  2. I have very dry hair and skin. When I visited Thailand this year I bought 100% pure coconut oil. It is unbelievable. A few drops on my skin and it makes the world of a difference. I also use it for ny hair. It really helps!
