Show Your Skin a Little Kindness

Your skin is one of the most delicate parts of your body. In order to keep it flawless and beautiful, you need to employ a daily skincare routine that works not only to rid it of excess dirt and oil, but also protects against the elements.

Be kind to your skin and you will soon see the results, with a clear and healthy complexion to show for it…

Sunblock It Up
It is vital to protect your skin from the sun’s harmful rays, so make sure you apply lots of sunblock this summer. Contrary to popular belief, the sun doesn’t zap pimples into the cosmos where they deserve to be, but rather just dries your skin out, serving only to heighten your body’s production of those nasty oils. So whatever your skin type, you need to slip, slop, slap your way to health and look after your skin for all those years to come.

Get in a Routine
I know you’ve heard it all before but if you establish a solid skincare routine which involves cleansing, toning and moisturizing day and night, then your skin will be a lot better off. Cleansing is vital to get rid of excess oils and dirt. Shower Gels avoid using soaps that are too drying, your skin will only react by making more oil – defeating the purpose entirely. Follow up with a toner to stimulate the blood circulation and give your skin a bit of life and color. Lastly apply moisturizer to hydrate your skin, which creates a layer that acts as a barrier on the skin’s surface to prevent loss of moisture.

Pamper
It’s a great idea to get in the habit of doing a facemask once or twice a week to make your skin look young and radiant. However, it’s important not to overuse face masks as this will only dry out your skin. There are some great simple and easy recipes out there to make your own masks that are often better for your skin as they are minus all those yucky chemicals.

Hydrate
Drinking your 8 glasses a day will make your skin look and feel healthier by flushing out nasty toxins, carrying nutrients to every cell in your body and improving blood circulation. Drinking water for your skin means a healthier appearance and a healthier body.

Exfoliate
Exfoliating works to remove old dead skin cells leaving your skin looking and feeling silkier, smoother and healthier. For most women, exfoliating twice a week will deliver results. However, the frequency of your scrub does depend to some degree on your age (the older, the more delicate your skin becomes and the less scrubbing it will be able to handle) and women with oily skin should exfoliate more than their dry skinned sisters. When it comes to method, it’s best just to use ye olde washcloth over a sponge, as sponges tend to stay damp creating the perfect breeding ground for some-not-so-nice-bacteria. Alternatively, exfoliating gloves are also a great way to go. Make sure you follow up with a good amount of moisturizer!
