At first glance you might wonder what could come from shining red light on your skin? What could that possibly do for you? You’ve heard of light therapy for your mood but this is entirely different.
Originally used by NASA, red light therapy has been used for healing and regenerating skin. Experts say that it penetrates the outer layer or dermis and helps with a variety of skin conditions like acne and rosacea even scarring and eczema.
Light and heat help increase circulation which brings more oxygen and nutrients to the skin. As cytokines are released fibroblasts which are collagen producing cells start working to heal and plump and add to overall health and appearance.
Before and after shots show varied results and seem to take years off the appearance of some people. Salons all over the country are offering red light sessions which may look similar to a tanning bed session but with red light rather than uv light. You can also check with your dermatologist as they may also offer the therapy.
