Moisturizer Tips

Choosing the Right Moisturizer

You’ve taken a look in the mirror and you’ve got dry, flaky skin on your forehead. There are patches of dandruff-like stuff on your arms, your legs, and other places you’d rather not mention. Even though you’ve exfoliated and put some lotion on your skin, it doesn’t seem to be enough. What do you need to do to keep your skin healthy? You’re likely in need of a quality moisturizer.

I Already Use a Moisturizer and It Doesn’t Work

Moisturizers aren’t always as good as they claim to be. Many of the cheap moisturizers on the market today are extremely thin and some even use a drying alcohol in them. This means that you end up:

  • using more moisturizer because it is dissipating rapidly,
  • drying out your skin because of the alcohol drying, and
  • spending more money in the long run because you go through cheap moisturizer so quickly.

It seems contrary to what should happen, but investing in a more expensive moisturizer can actually end up saving you money because you’ll use less product and still end up having healthier skin.

What Should You Look For in a Moisturizer?

A good moisturizer is going to contain some, if not all, of these lotion ingredients. If you are looking for a moisturizer, be sure to check for these things:

Shea Butter: This is a fat that is extracted from the nuts of the Shea tree. It melts at body temperature, has good waterbinding properties, and leaves a small amount of natural oil on your skin after absorption.

Argan Oil: Made from the kernals of the Argan trees found in Morocco, Argan oil helps to moisturize and cleanse the skin. It has medicinal qualities to it and can even potentially help to repair damaged hair.

Almond Oil: This is often used as an emollient, which means that it makes the skin softer and more pliable. This allows for other moisturizers to work their magic in keeping your skin healthy.

Other oils, such as jojoba or hemp, are also valuable moisturizers that can help your skin repair itself and maintain a healthy glow. Regular use of moisturizers with these ingredients will help your skin lose that flaky quality… and best of all, they won’t dry on your skin immediately.

What Are Good Moisturizers?

There are plenty of brands available today that contain the ingredients that good moisturizers ought to have. In particular, Hemperor, Hempz, Body Drench, and Amir are good ones to look at if you’re considering a change in moisturizers. These brands have the quality ingredients that your skin needs in a moisturizer without really draining your checkbook like some of the high class brands can do. Remember – even though you may be making a larger investment in a quality moisturizer at first, you’ll find that with regular use, you’ll be using less and thereby spending less.

Your skin is going to love you, you’re going to love your new moisturizer, and your bank account will be a bit happier as well. What moisturizer is right for you?
